Crossgates is exactly what the name says: the village that grew where the Dunfermline to Kirkcaldy road crossed the old Great North Road running from Inverkeithing to Perth. It sits about two miles east of Dunfermline and the same distance south-west of Cowdenbeath, right by the M90 and A92 junction at Halbeath, and a few miles north of base in Dalgety Bay. The housing is a village core along Main Street with older stone cottages, twentieth-century council-built streets behind it, and newer private estates on the edges, plus the hamlets of Mossgreen and Fordell and the villages of Halbeath and Hill of Beath close by. It is a mix that keeps rewires, board upgrades and EV chargers all on the list.
